Overview

We are currently seeking motivated and experienced underground Level II Electric Service Designers to work as estimators to join our team. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in estimating and design, with specific experience in underground electric service work. This position offers the chance to work on various projects and collaborate with a talented team of professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts the estimating process for underground projects, including collaborating with a team of estimators and managing assigned workload.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to junior estimators, helping them develop their skills and grow within the organization.
  • Reviews project specifications, drawings, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for underground service projects.
  • Works with fielders to understand site visits and evaluations to gather relevant information for estimating purposes.
  • Collaborates with project managers, team members, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive project estimates.
  • Utilizes estimating software and tools to analyze data and generate detailed deliverables.
  • Prepares and presents estimates to clients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to underground service work.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the estimating process, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and team support.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to internal teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required. Post-secondary education preferred. Electrical degree/certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in estimating, with a focus on underground service projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex estimating projects from start to finish.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of underground service construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of detailed material and labor requirements for construction of underground electric utility distribution pole replacement projects.
  • Knowledge of underground electric utility distribution design and construction standards and industry practices.
  • Experience with construction of distribution and/or transmission lines.
  • Experience with CPUC GO-95 and GO-128.

 

Preferred:

  • Post-secondary education preferred. Electrical degree/certification preferred.
  • Experience with California utilities distribution and/or transmission line design and/or construction is highly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP-based material and labor inventory. CPD/iCue or EES highly preferred.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer) are a plus.

 

Salary Range: $72,400 - $104,000

Location: San Francisco Bay Area preferred.

Work Environment: Hybrid: remote with occasional field visits.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis.

Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check.
