Cordoba Corporation, a leading engineering and design firm, is growing and hiring a Senior Electric Distribution Designer to join our team!  In this fully remote-based role, you will leverage your experience working on complex projects for our CA based public utility client to deliver exceptional results working on overhead and underground distribution design packages. The Senior Electric Distribution Designer plays a pivotal role in maintaining industry standards, conformance to client requirements, and providing technical expertise. Responsibilities

  • Works with engineering and design team to produce and/or review overhead and underground distribution design packages, including construction drawings, materials inventory (install and removals), voltage drop calculations, environmental/FAA/permitting releases, easements, fielding photos, and notes, distribution planning coordination requests, and GIS maps.
  • Understands and applies knowledge of overhead or underground electric utility distribution designs and construction standards, applicable codes, and industry practice to produce reliable and technically sound designs and/or quality control reviews.
  • Reviews design documents and drawings for accuracy and completeness, addressing any discrepancies or issues identified during the review process.
  • Provides clear and concise comments and justifications where design deficiencies are observed.
  • Reviews revised designs for incorporation of comments.
  • Identifies trends or new issues and raises them for management review along with potential solutions.
  • Mentors junior designers and provides technical guidance.
  • Develops and implements design standards and best practices.
  • Collaborates with other departments for integrated project delivery.
  • Ensures and maintains compliance with applicable company and client standards and procedures.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of department and company goals.
  • Participates in special projects or tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required. (Associates or Bachelors preferred)
  • 5-8 years overhead or underground electric utility distribution line design experience including applicable codes.
  • Ability to produce and/or review electric designs of high complexity.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD electric distribution design.
  • Experienced in designing overhead pole loading calculations utilizing O-Calc or Spida.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams to do their best work.
  • Knowledge of detailed material and labor requirements for construction of overhead and/or underground electric utility distribution projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD electric distribution design.
  • Preferred knowledge of utilizing O-Calc or Spida software.
  • Knowledge or experience working with Bluebeam or PDF
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Outlook, MS-Teams).
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Working knowledge of California utility overhead and underground standards and applications.
  • Familiar with material and labor requirements for construction of overhead and underground electric utility distribution projects.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to work with multiple projects at one time.

Preferred:

  • Post-secondary education preferred. Electrical degree/certification preferred.
  • Experience with SAP-based material and labor inventory. CPD/iCue or EES highly preferred.
  • Fielding experience in electric distribution.

 

Salary: $83,200 to $124,800

Location: Remote, California preferred

Project Group: New Business Underground
