Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a creative and proactive Civil Engineer III with hands on experience with stormwater projects. The primary function will be assisting in performing planning, engineering, design, drafting and cost estimating for potable water projects, wastewater projects, pipelines, pump stations, green streets, low impact development (LID), stormwater quality and stormwater reuse projects. The position is a combination of engineer, designer and drafter. The successful candidate will complete smaller projects independently including engineering calculations, CAD drawings, and construction cost estimates and participate as a member of a team of engineers and drafters to complete larger projects. Project components will include sidewalks and ramps, traffic control devices, striping and marking, pressure and gravity pipelines, pump stations, storage tanks, cisterns, drywells and bioswales.  Additional duties will include hydrology and hydraulic modelling, preparing GIS maps, and writing technical reports.

 

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of required design, specifications, and details for assigned projects, with consideration of
    • Integrity
    • Efficient and economical production and installation of engineered work
    • Budget limitation of each design element
  • Ensure that designs and details are prepared and transferred to the Project Engineer or other Supervisor in a clear and timely manner, with minimum supervision.
  • Coordinate with Senior staff members of the Design Center or other sectors (education, energy, transportation, or water) or outside agencies to ensure orderly and timely approval of Cordoba’s work.
  • Assist in preparation of remedial details to find an economical and efficient solution.
  • Constantly seek to improve design skills through self-study.
  • Stay abreast of current development within the Company and the industry and be vigilant in finding new ways to improve efficiency and economy.
  • Professionally represent the Company to enhance the Company’s reputation.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
  • 4-6+ years of professional experience in water, wastewater, or stormwater related engineering and design is required.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or MicroStation for the drafting and design of civil structures is required.

 

Preferred

  • California Civil Engineering Professional Engineering License (PE) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of current stormwater green infrastructure BMP and LID standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of the County of LA Safe Clean Water Program preferred.
  • Experience preparing construction drawings for pipelines, pump stations, and/or stormwater green infrastructure including bioswales, engineered wetlands, street trees, diversion structures, hydrodynamic separators, underground storage, lift stations, pipelines, catch basins, sidewalk / curb & gutter, traffic striping and marking, and wastewater pipeline connections for stormwater diversion.
  • Experience preparing specifications & cost estimates for water, wastewater, or stormwater green infrastructure.
  • Experience performing hydrology and hydraulic calculations and modelling.
  • Experience with GIS preferred.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and communication skills.

 

Salary Range: $110,000 to $140,000 per year

 

Work Location: Remote (California residents only) with occasional travel for client visits or onsite meetings in California.
