Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading civil engineering firm based in California. We are seeking a full-time Senior Industrial/Mechanical Engineer to support Cordoba’s Transportation Sector. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and supporting the implementation of mechanical systems and components for public facilities, including transit, aviation, and maintenance facilities. You will be involved with mega design projects, ensuring that designs meet stringent industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role will report to the Project Manager and work collaboratively with other Cordoba team members.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and report on existing building and other facility mechanical equipment and systems
  • Design of facility systems, including HVAC, fire suppression, plumbing, building automation, vehicle lifts and servicing, and others.
  • Conduct technical analyses, simulations, and testing to validate designs and ensure they meet performance, safety, and reliability standards.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs comply with industry and client standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Identify and collaboratively resolve engineering challenges, providing innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Stay informed about relevant codes and standards for transportation sector design and ensure their application in all projects.
  • Support design staff with engineering drawings using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Oversee and manage mechanical engineering tasks from concept through to implementation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, client staff, electrical engineers, civil engineers, and other disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure high mechanical design and manufacturing standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other aspects of the project’s design and construction.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development and guide as they draft mechanical and other designs.
  • Collaborate effectively: Coordinate with team members and other design disciplines to ensure cohesive and integrated project outcomes.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • California Professional Engineering (PE) License, or ability to obtain within one year after hire.
  • 15 years’ extensive experience in mechanical engineering facility design, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the rail or transportation industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or similar.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation industry standards and regulatory requirements. Rail experience in this area is preferred but not required.
  • Proven track record of successfully collaborating, leading, and delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work cooperatively with others as well as independently.
  • Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company.
  • Open to utilizing and developing new technologies and approaches for performing work.

 

Salary Range: $200,000 - $230,000 per year.

Work Location: Hybrid - The Greater Los Angeles area is preferred; candidates from elsewhere will be considered.
