Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading civil engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Field Commissioning Technician to join our Water sector. The Field Commissioning Technician will examine plans and specifications for compliance pertaining to the installation of control systems and interpret / apply the information in the contract documents regarding the control system installation. This role is responsible for visually inspecting the control system installation, taking photographs, collecting data, and compiling a report based on those observations. Additionally, this role will witness the performance testing, operational demonstrations, control functions, and confirm compliance with the contract documents. The Field Commissiong Technician will report directly to the Commissioning Manager, work on multiple projects simultaneously, and will be expected to travel to various project sites to perform the duties of this role.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the client’s staff, contractors, subcontractors, and equipment manufacturers / suppliers.
  • Field verify the proper operation of all control equipment, components, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Witness operational demonstrations, simulations, and validation tests of Plant process systems for all operating modes.
  • Verify control functions and monitoring provided by programmable logic controllers
  • Verify proper transmission of status and alarm signals to and from client’s SCADA system
  • Witness the performance of control system testing, performance testing of equipment and prepare detailed daily inspection reports, checklists, and logs.
  • Conduct inspections of all phases of construction projects involving installations PLCs, hard-wired relay logic controls, and instrumentation.
  • Ensure conformance with contract construction drawings, specifications, and approved material and equipment submittals.
  • Clearly and professionally inform the contractor and client of non-compliance issues and discuss required corrective work.
  • Monitor and document contractor labor and equipment utilization for field change order work.
  • Attend a variety of construction meetings relating to contract administration and inspection.
  • Coordinate contractor activities with client’s operations and maintenance staff.
  • Communicate all pertinent information to the project managers.
  • Prepare detailed daily inspection reports.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience with the Start-Up and Commissioning process is required
  • 2 years of experience (as an inspector, technician, or contractor) with the installation of controls, instrumentation, field startup and commissioning or troubleshooting of electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and SCADA systems, preferably within the water/wastewater industry
  • 2 years of college or university coursework in math, computer science, engineering, or related field is preferred
  • Ability to read construction drawings (all disciplines)
  • Intermediate proficiency with all Microsoft Office suite products
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and experience in maintaining strong client relationships
  • Ability to communicate with design engineers of all disciplines (process, civil, mechanical, electrical, controls)
  • Acumen to work independently adhering to guidelines and procedures established by the Commissioning Manager and adapt to field situations
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70, National Electric Code
    Familiarity with P&IDs, process control loops, PLCs and PLC networks, and HMIs
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented, creative, self-motivated, and enthusiastic
  • Ability to travel extensively to project sites and vendor/contractor office locations as necessary

 

Salary Range: $75,000 - $110,000 per year

 

Work Location: On-site at the Playa Del Rey office location and travel to client sites in the Greater Los Angeles area as needed.

 

Visa Sponsorship: Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
