Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking Electrical Designers of all levels with working knowledge of California utility overhead, distribution, and underground standards and applications to join our Electric team. The Electrical Designer is responsible for designing or reviewing designs of electric distribution lines for conformance to client requirements, applicable codes, project processes and procedures as well as designing/reviewing designs for constructability and technical accuracy.

 

The Electrical Designer will work with engineering and design teams to produce and/or review overhead and underground distribution design packages and provide technical expertise in the field. The ideal candidate is experienced in preparation of construction drawings, electrical calculations, and bill of materials for electrical distribution lines. Responsibilities

Electrical Designer I

  • Work with engineering and design team to produce overhead and underground distribution design packages, including construction drawings, materials inventory (install and removals), voltage drop calculations, environmental/FAA/permitting releases, easements, fielding photos, and notes, distribution planning coordination requests, and GIS maps.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for underground service projects.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with applicable company and client standards and procedures.
  • Work with fielders to understand site visits and evaluations to gather relevant information for estimating purposes.
  • Collaborate with project managers, team members, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive project estimates.
  • Utilize software and tools to analyze data and generate detailed deliverables.
  • Prepare and present estimates to clients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to underground service work.

Electrical Designer II

  • Work with engineering and design team to produce and/or review overhead and underground distribution design packages, including construction drawings, materials inventory (install and removals), voltage drop calculations, environmental/FAA/permitting releases, easements, fielding photos, and notes, distribution planning coordination requests, and GIS maps.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of overhead or underground electric utility distribution designs and construction standards, applicable codes, and industry practice to produce reliable and technically sound designs and/or quality control reviews.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with applicable company and client standards and procedures.
  • Work with fielders to understand site visits and evaluations to gather relevant information for estimating purposes.
  • Collaborate with project managers, team members, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive project estimates.
  • Utilize software and tools to analyze data and generate detailed deliverables.
  • Review revised designs and provide clear and concise comments and justifications where design deficiencies are observed.
  • Provide technical support to junior designers.
  • Participate in special projects or tasks as required.

Senior Electrical Designer

  • Work closely with project engineers to produce or review overhead and underground distribution design packages. Deliverables included in work order packages can include but are not limited to construction drawings, materials inventory (install and removals), environmental/FAA/permitting releases, easements, fielding photos, notes, distribution planning coordination requests, and GIS maps
  • Apply advanced knowledge of overhead or underground electric utility distribution designs and construction standards, applicable codes, and industry practice to produce reliable and technically sound designs and/or quality control reviews.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with applicable company and client standards and procedures.
  • Review revised designs and provide clear and concise comments and justifications where design deficiencies are observed.
  • Initiate/communicate work with other disciplines.
  • Perform internal quality control/assurance of design packages.
  • Develop processes or guidelines to perform functions of the job.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of department and company goals.
  • Identify trends or new issues and raise them for management review along with potential solutions.
  • Provide technical support to junior designers.
  • Attend meetings with clients, vendors and governing agencies as required.
  • Participate in special projects or tasks as required.

Qualifications

Electrical Designer I

  • High school diploma/GED required; Post-secondary education and Electrical degree or certification preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in overhead or underground electric utility distribution line design experience including applicable codes required
  • Experience with California utilities distribution and/or transmission line design and/or construction is highly preferred
  • Ability to produce and/or review electric designs of moderate complexity
  • Experience with CPUC GO-95 and GO-128
  • Fielding experience in electric distribution preferred
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD electric distribution design.
  • Proficiency using O-Calc or Spida software
  • Knowledge or experience working with Bluebeam or PDF
  • Experience with SAP-based material and labor inventory. CPD/iCue or EES
  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills

Electrical Designer II

  • High school diploma/GED required; Post-secondary education and Electrical degree or certification preferred
  • 3-5 years overhead or underground electric utility distribution line design experience including applicable codes required
  • 3+ years of PG&E program experience is required
  • Knowledge of material and labor requirements for construction of overhead and/or underground electric utility distribution projects required
  • Understanding of California utility overhead and underground standards and applications required
  • Ability to produce and/or review electric designs of moderate to high complexity
  • Knowledgeable with CPUC GO-95 and GO-128
  • Fielding experience in electric distribution preferred
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD electric distribution design
  • Proficiency using O-Calc or Spida software
  • Knowledge or experience working with Bluebeam or PDF

  • 3+ years of PG&E program experience is required
  • Knowledge of material and labor requirements for construction of overhead and/or underground electric utility distribution projects required
  • Proficient with California utilities distribution and/or transmission line design and/or construction required
  • Ability to produce and/or review electric designs of high complexity
  • Well-versed in CPUC GO-95 and GO-128
  • Fielding experience in electric distribution preferred
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD electric distribution design
  • Advanced proficiency using O-Calc or Spida software
  • Knowledge or experience working with Bluebeam or PDF
  • Experience with SAP-based material and labor inventory. CPD/iCue or EES
  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams

Salary Range: $62,400 to $124,800 per year

 

Work Location: Remote with occasional field visits within the Bay Area and/or Southern CA (California residents preferred)

 

Visa Sponsorship: Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check
