Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm in based in California. We are seeking a highly skilled Drafting Supervisor to grow and lead a small drafting team. This role will be focused on improving and revising electrical transmission standards for our public utility clients in California. The successful candidate will possess strong project management skills and have expertise in both overhead and underground power line design, drafting, and the creation of construction drawings and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a drafting team in the creation of accurate and detailed electrical transmission designs, including overhead and underground power lines, converting circuit maps, construction drawings, and standards.
  • Develop and maintain drafting standards, templates, block libraries, procedures, and applications for public utility projects, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Lead weekly meetings with the client to discuss project objectives, technical issues, page turn reviews, and ensure project is within budget and schedules are met.
  • Oversee the creation and management of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Map 3D drawings utilizing advanced 3D modeling techniques for public utility infrastructure projects.
  • Review and approve final drafting and design deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Create processes for internal QA/QC reviews.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in drafting techniques, standards, and software relevant to the power utility sector, including AutoCAD and GIS.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding drafting-related inquiries, providing timely updates and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Identify training needs within the team and provide coaching and leadership to enhance the skills and knowledge in drafting practices and software tools.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, construction crews and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between drafting activities and project requirements.
  • Drive process improvements and innovation within the drafting team seeking opportunities to streamline workflows, increase efficiency, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client presentations/trainings, contributing technical expertise and insights to facilitate effective communication and collaboration between project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Drafting & Design or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
  • 5-8 years of experience in drafting and design required, with a focus on power utility projects and infrastructure, including overhead and underground power lines, circuit maps, construction drawings, and standards
  • Expertise in advanced computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, Map 3D, Autodesk Vault 2024, Inventor 2024 for 3D, MicroStation (optional), with advanced skills in drafting and 3D modeling
  • Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with strong project management skills and the ability to effectively manage teams and resources
  • Thorough understanding of drafting standards, practices, and terminology relevant to power transmission and distribution systems, including familiarity with industry codes, regulations, and best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical requirements, analyze data, and develop innovative design solutions to meet project objectives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and build positive relationships with clients and partners
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting project deadlines and deliverables
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism, with a track record of delivering high-quality work products on time and within budget

Pay Range: $80,000 - $120,000 per year

 

Work Environment: Remote (Southern California residents preferred)

 

Visa Sponsorship: Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship

 

Travel: Up to 20% within San Diego County
