Overview

Cordoba is seeking a Construction Project Manager to support its Education Sector on a private university highly technical campus client projects.  This position plans, organizes, and directs the planning, design, construction, and closeout activities in an active/occupied university environment. Qualified candidates shall have a minimum of 10 years full time paid professional experience managing vertical facilities of capital improvement programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, develops, and coordinates the Owner’s design and construction process for vertical facilities. Engage in the Planning and Design process. 
  • Manages the procurement of multiple construction contracts whose value ranges from $500,000 to $10M.  Manages construction and closeout as an Owner’s Representative.
  • Manages multiple projects through interaction with architects, consultants, and Owner personnel from project inception through construction.
  • Oversees the building design process to ensure compliance with the Owner’s standards and guidelines by working with design professionals and construction contractors to ensure that new and modernized facilities meet Owner’s educational and building standards requirements. Knowledge of CBC code is preferred.
  • Follows a process to identify and select the architectural firm best suited for each project based on the firms’ qualifications and ability to meet performance standards. Follows similar process for procuring general contractors to execute construction work on multiple projects.
  • Manages the schedule & budget in all phases of the project life cycle.
  • Ensures that all decisions are made in a timely manner, including End-User decisions.
  • Ensures that all steps within the project are documented and that the documentation meets legal requirements.
  • Reviews design changes submitted to ensure the project remains within budget.
  • Coordinates with a host of professional staff who support the design function for the Owner.
  • Coordinates project activities with other Owner’s organizational branches and departments such as the Inspection, Environmental Health and Safety, Design Services, Maintenance and Operations, Construction Services, and the Owner’s Occupancy Transitional Unit (for FF&E).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from a recognized college or university; major in architecture, engineering, or construction management
  • Minimum 10 years of paid professional experience managing the facilities design, construction, and closeout of capital improvement projects that include the overall contract administration, cost estimating, scheduling activities, change management, and project closeout
  • Five years of experience must be in managing, coordinating and constructing public works, educational facilities, laboratory/science facilities or similar public works projects

Preferred:

  • A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers, or a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) are preferred but not mandatory.

Salary Range: $152,500 to $172,500 per year.

Location: Pasadena, CA 

Work Environment: 100% onsite in Pasadena, CA 91125.
