Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Energy Management Systems (EMS) Senior Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist with HVAC controls design and submittal reviews, analyze utility data to identify schools for recommissioning, and review EMS and energy data to pinpoint cost-effective energy conservation measures. Responsibilities include investigating project conditions, implementing low-cost solutions for EMS systems, troubleshooting HVAC issues, responding to warranty calls, and calibrating electronic systems. Additionally, the EMS Technician will support in-house commissioning projects and perform various other duties as assigned. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficiency and sustainability of our school’s energy management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with HVAC Controls Design and Submittal reviews.
  • Assists in reviewing utility data and energy usage to identify schools for recommissioning and retro commissioning.
  • Assists in reviewing EMS and energy data, and alarms to identify no cost/low-cost energy conservation measures.
  • Assists in the review of EMS, energy data, and alarms to identify preventive maintenance measures.
  • Performs site visits to investigate as built conditions on identified projects.
  • Implements low-cost to no-cost solutions or alternatives to projects/repairs of EMS systems at existing school sites.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
  • Responds to basic warranty calls.
  • Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
  • Assists in managing In-house Commissioning Projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering (mechanical, computer science, electrical, information technology) OR two-year technical degree in HVAC, Electronics-related studies with additional 2 years of experience to compensate for education on a year-for-year basis
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in building controls or a related field
  • Understanding of computer networking principles, including configuration, maintenance, and
  • troubleshooting
  • Ability to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC maintenance issues
  • Fundamental understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.

 Preferred:

  • Experience working with multiple controls manufacturers including Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta,
  • Distech, Schneider Electric, or Trane
  • Proven ability to debug installation issues during both static and dynamic start-up phases
  • Experience supporting installation personnel and other contractors on project sites
  • Extensive experience in performing or assisting in performance of commissioning of EMS

 

Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000

Work Environment: Onsite
