Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a skilled Design Supervisor to join our Electric sector. The Design Supervisor will lead our undergrounding program in the high fire threat areas of Southern California. The successful candidate will manage both an internal team, and a subcontractor, to ensure the delivery of high-quality design and quality control for large scale overhead to underground conversion projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees underground distribution design projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry regulatory requirements and design standards.
  • Manages numerous concurrent projects, assignments and activities related to underground distribution design.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the internal and subcontractor design teams, including assigning tasks, setting goals, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Provides training, guidance and support to the internal design team and subcontractors, extending insights into best practices and innovative solutions for underground design.
  • Mentors and coaches, all levels of the distribution design team.
  • Interprets company and industry policies; mediates and resolves disputes about designs, including resolving design issues with the client.
  • Works closely with the team to ensure everyone is up to date with policies and standards.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging feedback and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, and field crews, to coordinate design efforts and any design-related issues that arise during project execution.
  • Identifies opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains in the estimation workflow, implementing changes to enhance accuracy, speed, and consistency.
  • Creates and provides metrics on work performance.
  • Conducts meetings or presentations at department, team, or project meetings.
  • In a lead capacity, completes special assignments related to ongoing process improvements, training, or special projects.
  • Works with the team to review underground distribution design packages.
  • Identifies trends or new issues and raises them for management review along with potential solutions.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of department and company goals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree and/or electrical degree/certification preferred
  • 5-8 years of experience in the Electric utility industry required
  • 3+ years of team supervisor or team lead experience with the ability to train and lead internal team and subcontractors required
  • Knowledge and experience in Electric Distribution Design preferred
  • Working knowledge of California utility underground standards and applications preferred
  • Qualified Underground Designer preferred
  • Experience using PLS-CADD preferred
  • Advanced understanding of underground electric utility distribution designs and construction standards, applicable codes, and industry practices
  • Experience designing and conducting training for team members
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with an ability to inspire and influence cross-functional teams
  • Must be adaptable and flexible to change
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines
  • High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic

Pay Range: $93,600 - $135,200 per year

 

Work Location: Remote (California residents required; San Diego, CA preferred)

 

Visa Sponsorship: Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship

 

Travel: Up to 10% within the San Diego County area
