Overview

Cordoba Corporation, a leading engineering firm in California is hiring a Senior Office Engineer to support our facilities projects with LAWA. The Senior Office Engineer will be responsible for maintaining organized and detailed construction files, project records and logs. This role will also maintain organized and detailed construction files, project records and logs, oversee and review daily field inspector reports, track, document and manage project issues and conditions, including the management of the construction Request For Information (RFI) and submittal process. This role will also provide and coordinate technical and administrative information to others working on a project to ensure that the work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, documents and tracks project planning and engineering activities with project managers, contractors, field staff and other stakeholders.
  • Reads, interprets and evaluates architectural and engineering plans and proposals and provides contracting strategies and execution, and coordinates award forms and documentation.
  • Reviews and responds to Requests for Clarifications (RFC), Change Order Proposals (COP) and Change Directives (CD) for quality assurance and merit.
  • Prepares cost estimates and assists in negotiating a fair and reasonable cost for change orders submitted by contractors.
  • Reviews and monitors applications for payment and ensures projects are delivered within approved timelines.
  • Performs site walks to verify field conditions and develop progress or status reports.
  • Reviews contractor baseline schedules, including analysis of critical path and recovery schedules.
  • Reviews Constructability Review and ensure compliance with District standards, Division of State Architect (DSA) guidelines and building code requirements.
  • Maintain project files and logs that include correspondence, contractor invoices and progress statements, change orders as well as claims, timesheets and extra services.
  • Coordinates progress meetings with contractors, project managers and field staff; prepares agendas and records meeting minutes and follows up on action items.
  • Acts as support staff in the collection of contract data and documentation to resolve changes and claims.
  • Assists in project close-out activities and acquisition of technical documents, project records, including as-builts, drawings, test records and maintenance of manuals.
  • Leads efforts in performing tests required to ensure material compliance with plans and specifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) years or more experience, preferably on airport projects Has demonstratable specialized experience/area of expertise."
  • Must have Engineering and construction knowledge of all aspects of airfield airport construction.
  • Must be familiar with construction management tools and software.
  • Must have experience with FAA reports.
  • Must have experience with payment applications, including quantity dispute resolution.
  • Must have excellent skills in document contract, documentation, and saving and monitor inspection request submitted by tenant/contractor when received on a daily basis.
  • Have knowledge of VEO (Inspection/Document control program).
  • Have knowledge of Prolog (Inspection/Document control program).
  • Filing and reviewing of RFI’S, Submittal and some knowledge of Plan Reading.
  • Able to communicate and Interact with Other LAWA, City Dept.’s., contractors and Airlines. (Preferably with previous LAWA experience).
  • Excellent knowledge and proficient in Microsoft Office and management software (Be capable to create logs, charts, etc.).
  • Available to work modified schedule and Overtime as construction activities require.
  • Assist in the onboarding process for new hires. (i.e. Parking services, badging questions, escort class, etc.)
  • May be called upon to take meeting minute notes in meetings.
  • Liaison between Inspector and Project management/Document control.
  • Coordinate Inspector meeting & with contractor & stakeholder including organizing weekly safety meetings
  • Ability to maintain and organize filing system from pre-construction to project closeout.
  • Ensure that inspector issued documents are maintained and in compliance with the contract documents and LAWA requirements.

Preferred:

  • Licensed Engineer (preferably by CA Board of Engineers) is preferred
  • Optional Certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PMP, etc., and/or any other relevant Professional Licensure or Certification"
  • Some knowledge and experience of Airport construction (desired).

 

Salary range: $90,000 to $110,000

Location: Los Angeles, CA
