Overview

Cordoba Corporation, a leading engineering firm in CA, is hiring QA Materials Inspectors for a transportation project, to work in materials engineering and testing services.  This role will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of materials used in transportation infrastructure projects. This role involves rigorous inspection, testing, and documentation to meet standards and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Material Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of materials at various stages of the project, including source inspection, to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality assurance processes, including verification sampling and testing of materials such as soils, aggregates, cement, asphalt, and concrete.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and non-conformance reports. Prepare comprehensive reports for project managers and stakeholders.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all materials and construction practices comply with client and federal regulations, including Buy America and Buy Clean California Act requirements.
  • Coordination: Work closely with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to address any quality issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Field Work: Perform on-site inspections and laboratory testing as required. This includes verifying the quality of materials manufactured or fabricated off-site.
  • Risk Management: Assess and manage risks associated with material quality and compliance. Implement corrective actions for any identified non-conformances.
  • Prepares reports transmitting technical recommendations for their assigned projects, NCR Summary Reports, Materials Issues by Bid Item Report, monthly summary reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, materials science, or related field from an ABET accredited university OR Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate and at least one (1) year of experience.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance and materials inspection, preferably in transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Engineering License (Civil) or relevant certifications in quality assurance and materials testing.
  • Must have knowledge of construction process and basic design principles, the materials used in projects including welding, precast concrete, coatings, roadway materials, structural fasteners, and general materials mechanics and properties. Industry practices for fabrication of structural components.
  • Must have the ability to interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings, communicate clearly and efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Certifications:
  • Welding Inspector (w/ AWS CWI Certification)
  • Nondestructive Testing Technician (NDT Level II)
  • Per Company Program based on ASNT SNT TC-1A Guidelines
  • Or ASNT Level II Certified (UT, MT, PT, RT)
  • Nondestructive Testing Technician (NDT Level III)
  • ASNT Level III Certified (UT, MT, PT, RT)
  • Or ASNT ACCP Level III Certified (UT, MT, PT, RT)
  • Precast Concrete Inspectors (PCI Level II or Level III)
  • NACE 2 Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 2)
  • NACE 3 Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 3) 

 

Salary Range: $45 to $65/hourly

Location: Sacramento, CA

Work Environment: Onsite

Work is performed in both office and field settings, with exposure to various weather conditions and construction environments.

Travel: Extensive travel may be required, including overnight stays and long-term assignments at different project sites.
