Overview

 

Cordoba Corporation, a leading engineer firm in CA, is hiring an Assistant Project Manager, Facilities. This role will perform a variety of increasingly complex and technical duties related to the District’s facilities planning and construction program. This role involves providing project coordination and management support, preparing and maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Key responsibilities include fiscal analysis, contract review, and assisting with student enrollment projections and facility capacity surveys. The Assistant Project Manager will also update site plans, develop maps and reports, and serve as a liaison between District personnel and external agencies. Proficiency in GIS and CADD software, along with strong communication skills, is essential for preparing reports, presentations, and maintaining effective collaboration across various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of increasingly complex and technical duties related to the District's facilities planning and construction program; provide project coordination and management support to department activities and projects.
  • Preparse and maintain of a variety of reports, records and files related to assigned activities; maintain data for long and short-range planning; compose written and oral communications to convey information in accordance with District policies and procedures.
  • Reviews, analyzes and makes recommendations for professional services contracts.
  • Assists in performing fiscal analysis related to facilities planning and construction accounting, budgeting, invoicing and payment requests; assist in the preparation of expenditure and close-out reports with regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors accounts to assure funds are appropriately expended and assure compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.
  • Assists in analyzing student enrollment projections; conducts facility capacity and enrollment surveys to evaluate needs; performs and interprets statistical calculations; reviews and updates site Master Plans and ADA Transition Plan
  • Updates and maintain School Site Plan Drawings, Boundary Maps, District demographic data and other surveys; work with school sites to update emergency evacuation plans and related facilities information.
  • Assists with the development of maps and reports based on graphical information; assists in the preparation and follow-up of Board of Education agenda items; prepares charts and graphs.
  • Serves as a liaison between District personnel and outside agencies regarding facilities planning and construction activities; communicates with District staff, consultants and representatives of public agencies regarding planning requirements, schedules and issues.
  • Performs a variety of special projects as directed; researches, applies and maintains current knowledge of laws, codes, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
  • Utilizes a variety of advisory data and information including budgets, architectural and construction plans, State and local plans and zoning ordinances, federal and State environmental guidelines and boundary maps to assist in making appropriate decisions supporting the interests of the District.
  • Provides information to facilities management regarding assigned functions; provides advisement of unusual trends or problems and recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Assists in construction closeout in coordination of warranties, as-builts, training and attic stock.
  • Operates a computer and assigned software to input data and develops reports; utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software; drives a District or personal vehicle to conduct work and visit sites.
  • Attends and represents the District in a variety of meetings, conferences and governmental hearings as assigned; prepares and delivers oral presentations as assigned.
  • Prepares and delivers oral presentations as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in facilities planning, construction management, or a related area.
  • Proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a District or personal vehicle to conduct work and visit sites.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 5 or more years of experience in facilities planning and construction management.
  • Experience working in an educational or public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of state and local building codes, zoning ordinances, and environmental regulations.
  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Facilities Management (e.g., FMP, CFM).
