Overview

 

Cordoba Corporation, a leading engineering firm in Los Angeles, is hiring a BIM Designer position focused on modeling and detailing structural and mechanical systems for large, complex structures. The ideal candidate will be able to design in Revit, coordinate with other BIM staff, engineers, architects, and project team members. The BIM Designer will work directly with project Managers, structural engineers, and mechanical engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Creates structural and mechanical Revit models for multiple buildings from scratch.
  • Generates plan, elevation, section, and detail views showing members in Revit.
  • Provides detailing of structural and mechanical conditions in Revit.
  • Adheres to and implements specific client BIM standards.
  • Generates and organizes all sheets required in set including note sheets, standard detail sheets, inspection table sheets, etc.
  • Coordinates with other BIM staff, engineers, architects, and other consultants and will work directly with a Project Manager and a team of structural and mechanical engineers in a dynamic office environment.
  • Gathers engineering or operational data from a variety of sources.
  • Reads drawings of other disciplines, coordinates structural and mechanical drawings with other disciplines for moderately complex projects.
  • Selects and modifies standard details, develops non-standard details based on engineer’s direction.
  • Checks drafting work prior to returning revised drawings and red marks to the engineer to confirm completeness of documents.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience modeling, detailing, and generating structural and mechanical drawings as a draftsperson in Revit for buildings. (Bridges and Heavy Civil projects will not be considered as qualifying towards the 5-year threshold for buildings experience.)
  • Proficiency in Revit as a structural and mechanical BIM draftsperson / designer and proficiency in Bluebeam.
  • Solid understanding of how building structures and mechanical systems are designed and constructed in California.
  • General understanding of the practice of Structural and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to coordinate structural/mechanical BIM model with Architectural and other 3D models.
  • Ability to create 2D structural and mechanical details in Revit from information provided from architect, structural engineer, and MEP engineers.
  • Ability to model structures and mechanical systems in Revit environment from scratch and maintain/update current models in ongoing projects.
  • Organized, dependable, responsible and detail oriented.
  • Capable of delivering project documents under pressure to meet deadlines
  • All candidates must be eligible to work/located in the US.
  • Structural/Mechanical/Architectural Revit modeling and documentation knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and with teams in other offices.
  • Advanced knowledge in the terminology and symbols used in Structural and Mechanical plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to specific Engineering specialties.
  • Proactive and approach design challenges with a willingness to explore lots of ideas.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in the transportation sector is highly preferred but not required.

 

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000

Work Environment: (remote, onsite, hybrid with days of week in office/field)
