Overview

Cordoba Corporation, a leading engineering and construction management firm in CA, is hiring an Assistant Construction Manager, School Facilities. This role will perform a variety of increasingly complex and technical duties related to the school district’s facilities planning and construction program. This role involves providing project coordination and management support, preparing and maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Key responsibilities include fiscal analysis, construction contract procurement, and assisting with the overall management of construction activities on behalf of the school district. The Assistant Construction Manager will also update site plans, develop maps and reports, and serve as a liaison between school district personnel and external agencies. Proficiency in PMIS and software, along with strong communication skills, is essential for preparing reports, presentations, and maintaining effective collaboration across various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of increasingly complex and technical duties related to the school district's facilities planning and construction program; provides project coordination and management support to the construction manager in executing the district’s activities and projects.
  • Prepares meeting agendas and minutes, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of discussions and decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records and files related to assigned activities; maintain data for long and short-range planning and construction; compose written and oral communications to convey information in accordance with school district policies and procedures.
  • Reviews, analyzes and makes recommendations for professional services contracts.
  • Assists in performing fiscal analysis related to facilities planning and construction accounting, budgeting, invoicing and payment requests; assist in the preparation of expenditure and close-out reports with regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors construction activity of all assigned projects, and tracks RFIs, Submittals, Shop Drawings, Inspection Requests, and Change Management documentation to include all DSA related communications.
  • Serves as a liaison between contractors, 3rd party outside agencies, utility purveyors, and school district personnel; communicates with school district staff, consultants and representatives of public agencies regarding planning and construction issues.
  • Assists in construction financial and DSA closeout and will coordinate all project warranties, as-builts, training and attic stock.
  • Operates a computer on provided PMIS software to input/manage data and develops reports for assigned projects; communicates all correspondence via PMIS system or email correspondence.
  • Attends and represents the school district in a variety of meetings (OAC, Safety, work-sessions, etc.),
  • Prepares and delivers oral/written presentations as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other standard office software.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in the project and construction management field, preferably in the field.
  • School facility construction experience, preferably with DSA or equivalent agency.

 

Preferred Experience: 

 

  • Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
  • Experience in document control and flow of documents between PMs and other departments.
  • Experience in large planning, design, and construction programs.
  • Experience with financial and DSA close-out processes.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Other position information:

  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 per year.
  • Location: Anaheim, CA.
  • Work Environment: 100% on-site.
  • Travel: little to none. Only between various school campuses.
  • Visa Sponsorship: not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Physical Requirements: candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds.
