Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and program management firm based in California. We are seeking a Senior Field Commissioning Specialist to support our Water sector in performing instrumentation and control systems tasks. The role includes reviewing plans and specifications for compliance pertaining to the installation of control systems, interpreting and applying the information in the contract documents regarding the control system installation. The Senior Field Commissioning Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting complex control systems like PLCs, SCADA, and DCS, which involves working with various sensors, transmitters, and electrical components. They will manage the contractor involved with installing, developing, maintaining, and managing equipment, which is required to control and monitor process systems, as well as interface with the client involving operations, maintenance, and construction. Other responsibilities include witnessing the performance testing, operational demonstrations, control functions, confirming compliance with the contract documents, visually inspecting the control system installation, taking photographs, collecting data, and compiling reports based on those observations.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic review of field implementation plan by EPC contractor.
  • Field verifying the proper operation of all control equipment and instrumentation.
  • Manage the repair and calibration of instrumentation devices.
  • Coordinate with the client’s staff, contractors, subcontractors, and equipment manufacturers/suppliers.
  • Manage witnessing operational demonstrations, simulations, and validation tests of Plant process systems for all operating modes.
  • Oversee verifying control functions and monitoring provided by programmable logic controllers.
  • Manage verifying proper transmission of status and alarm signals to and from client’s SCADA system.
  • Manage witness testing of equipment performance and control system performance, and supervise the preparation of detailed daily inspection reports, checklists, and logs.
  • Coordinate the inspection of all phases of construction projects involving installations PLCs, hard-wired relay logic controls, and instrumentation.
  • Ensure conformance with contract construction drawings and specifications, and approved material and equipment submittals.
  • Clearly and professionally informing the contractor and client of non-compliance issues, and discussing required corrective work.
  • Manage monitoring and documenting contractor labor and equipment utilization for field change order work.
  • Coordinate contractor activities with client’s operations and maintenance staff.
  • Prepare detailed daily inspection reports and provide guidelines in problem solving and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience with start-up and commissioning for controls systems and instrumentation required
  • 2 years of experience (as an inspector, technician, or contractor) with the installation of controls, instrumentation, or controls, field startup and commissioning or troubleshooting of electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and SCADA systems, preferably within the water/wastewater industry
  • Ability to read construction drawings (all disciplines)
  • Ability to communicate with design engineers of all disciplines (process, civil, mechanical, electrical, controls) Acumen to work independently adhering to guidelines and procedures established by the Commissioning Manager and adapt to field situations
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 National Electric Code
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, process control loops, PLC’s and HMI’s
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented, creative, self-motivated, and enthusiastic
  • Ability to travel extensively to project sites and vendor/contractor office locations as necessary

Pay Range: $125,000 - $165,000 per year

 

Work Location: Hybrid 3 days per week in Los Angeles County to field sites

 

Travel: Up to 3 times per week to field sites in Los Angeles County

 

Visa Sponsorship: Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a pre-authorized background check
