Overview

Cordoba is seeking a creative and proactive Senior/Principal Civil Engineer with hands on experience in transportation projects. The Principal Civil Engineer / Land Surveyor is responsible for leading, managing, and delivering complex public infrastructure, land surveying, and capital improvement projects. This role works with multidisciplinary engineering teams, coordinates with public agencies, and ensures the successful planning, design, and construction of major transportation, bridge, roadway, traffic, and drainage projects. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to present effectively to governing bodies and community groups.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management

    • Mentor engineering and land surveying staff, manage training, and staff development.

    Capital Improvement Program Management

    • Facilitate delivery of major public works projects, including pavement, drainage, sidewalk, and traffic improvements.
    • Manage design and construction phases of bridge projects
    • Oversee planning, scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and construction support for capital improvement infrastructure projects.

    Land Surveying Oversight

    • Supervise and direct land surveying operations, including field crews, mapping, right-of-way surveys, and technical review of survey work products.
    • Ensure compliance with state surveying regulations, standards, and professional practices.

    Transportation Engineering & Operations

    • Manage highway and roadway projects from planning through construction.
    • Develop project scopes, alternatives, schedules, and cost estimates for transportation infrastructure improvements.
    • Coordinate with environmental, design, maintenance and operations divisions throughout project development process.

    Technical Systems & Program Oversight

  • Support engineering CADD/GIS systems and software/hardware integration .
  • Provide leadership in the development and deployment of engineering tools, workflows, and training programs.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct presentations to City Council, public commissions, and community groups on major public works projects and initiatives .
  • Coordinate with state, regional, and local agencies, consultants, contractors, and the public.
  • Serve as a representative to professional engineering organizations.

Qualifications

Education & Licenses

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered Civil Engineer, State of California.
  • Licensed Land Surveyor State of California.
