Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Junior Project Cost Estimator to join our Facilities Sector. This role is responsible for developing and analyzing construction cost estimates to support project planning, negotiation, and contract administration. The position prepares preliminary independent cost estimates, detailed construction cost breakdowns, and change‑order evaluations to help establish the Owner’s negotiating position. It provides analytical support during price negotiations, conducts claim analysis, and reviews contractor proposals for accuracy, merit, and accountability. The role also researches current market conditions, including cost and price trends for materials, supplies, and services, to ensure estimates remain accurate and up to date.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare preliminary independent cost estimates of projects for comparison with designer or contractor for PM/CM to establish negotiating position.
  • Assist in preparing change order estimates for Owner Authorized Representatives to establish negotiating position
  • Provides support in price negotiations
  • Prepares claim analysis and estimates
  • Prepares detailed estimates of construction costs based on drawings, specifications and sketches
  • Assists in reviewing contractor’s claims and proposals for merit and accountability
  • Conducts research on recent cost and price changes in supplies and services

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in construction estimating of facilities or School Construction.
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, engineering, or construction management
  • Knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs
  • Experience in developing and estimating the scope of work for change orders
  • Ability to compare the independent cost estimate with contractor proposal to identify differences
  • Ability to develop scope of work based on RFI/RFC answers and estimates the detailed costs of those scopes of work independent of the contractor proposal
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Fact-find and in-depth skills

Salary Range: $107,000 to $121,000 yearly

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Work Environment: Onsite
