Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Facilities Sector. The ideal candidate will manage and execute the design and construction of multiple concurrent capital projects—typically three to five at a time—ranging from $5M to $80M in value and varying complexity. This role includes planning, organizing, and directing all project management activities for modernization efforts and new facility construction. The project manager will collaborate closely with the Program Management Office and diverse stakeholders, resolve complex construction issues and disputes, and ensure successful project delivery. The candidate will also review, develop, and coordinate design and construction contract documents and phasing plans with PMO staff, external vendors, and College personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage and execute the design and/or construction of 3 to 5 projects simultaneously, ranging in construction value and complexity from $5M to $80M each.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate project management activities on design and construction of modernization projects and new facilities
  • Resolve successfully complex, construction related issues, disputes, and disagreements
  • Report and collaborate with the Program Management Office (PMO) and multiple stakeholders on planning, design and construction matters
  • Review and develop design and construction contract documents and phasing plans in coordination with PMO staff, outside vendors and College Staff
  • Identify and update projects risks periodically, and create and update risk mitigation plans
  • Evaluate, assess, process and manage change orders and professional services requests in a timely manner
  • Perform construction site walks daily to identify construction issues, determine work progress, and track manpower levels
  • Performs constructability reviews and QA/QC on programming, design and construction documents as required
  • Document thoroughly in writing, photos, minutes and reports all issues and status updates on the projects
  • Review and respond to Contractors’ project schedules, and lead the effort to maintain projects on schedule
  • Responsible for tracking project budget and additional costs, and for delivering projects within
    Budget
  • Coordinate budget and schedule information with the Relocation Project Manager regarding FF&E, Asset Disposition/Surplus, and Relocation
  • Collaborate closely with project inspectors and DSA staff to identify and mitigate issues during construction
  • Track status, provide and present management reports relative to scheduling, cost control, staffing and other project requirements
  • Review and inspects construction site offices to assess performance of construction teams and adherence to legal requirements
  • Successfully close out and certify projects including DSA closeout, and PMO/District closeout
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in Management of multiple design and construction projects; experience within a large capital improvement program and familiarity with relevant Public Codes
  • BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management or a closely related field. Additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum stated above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years experience in Educational Facility Construction preferred
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes or similar
  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Knowledge of all parts of the project life cycle, to include master planning, design and closeout
  • Experience in alternative delivery method (Design-build, etc.)
  • Experience with using a web based project management system such as Proliance
  • Experience in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)
  • Experience in Formal Construction Partnering
  • A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors

Salary Range: $139,000 to $154,000 yearly

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Work Environment: Onsite
